Dara Ettinger Boutique Opens on Hicks Street in Brooklyn Heights

The Dara Ettinger jewelry store at 218 Hicks Street had its grand opening on Saturday (4/30).  We stopped by and can say that both the designs and prices are very appealing. Next door, Overtures stepped up its window display highlighting its “Spring line” of jewelry.  Could this be the start of a fashion war on Hicks Street?

Bin Laden Dead: Our Brooklyn Heights Heroes Got Some Justice Tonight

Upon America’s successful assassination of Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden today,  please take a moment to remember the firefighters of our Engine Company 205 / Ladder Company 118 “Fire Under the Bridge”.  The Middagh Street station lost 8 men on 9/11/2011  including 6 who died together in their firetruck crushed under the rubble.

Reginella bites the crust

Reginella, the pizza parlor that opened on Atlantic Avenue two years ago has closed (perhaps the pressure from the new pizzeria at Court & Atlantic?). The space is being reconfigured as “Catania”, an Italian-themed bakery/cafe and “Tavola Calda” (pre-cooked hot Italian dishes); and workers at the site said they expected to open mid-week.

Marty Urges Brooklyn Built Taxi

On May 1, BP Marty Markowitz was joined by representatives from Karsan USA, elected officials and disability and transportation advocates for a press conference at Borough Hall to call for the selection of Karsan as the manufacturer of New York City’s “Taxi of Tomorrow.”
