How can we fix the digital clock at the former TD Bank?(211 Montague Street, corner of Cadman Plaza West) This clock has shown the wrong time of day for as long as I can remember, confusing residents and anyone boarding subways and hustling to court appointments.

  • Nosey Neighbor

Good news! I told the owner of the building about your problem, and he said he’s going to tear down the whole building because they couldn’t figure out how to fix the clock.

  • Nostalgic_bird

I miss the view of the Manhattan bridge walking north on Henry street

  • meschwar

Not much going on in the city this week, I guess…

  • Red Leader

What does everyone think about Brad Landers run for mayor?

  • Peter Scott-Thomas

I've met the guy and he has a very good mind. Plus, he DOES have good credentials and a vision for NYC. But I think one has to be realistic that in a city where white voters are in a minority, 2 or 3 white candidates inevitably pave the way for someone as awful as Adams. D.C. showed us what happens when a poorly educated community – on balance – confuses "flash" with competence.

And remember, while Park Slope, Brooklyn Heights and a few other neighborhoods form a kind of "liberal" bubble, 2 boros – Queens and S.I. – prize free parking and the large part of the DOT mission that is car-friendly over all else. Now add in the reality that home ownership and taxation DENY people like Lander – whose ambitious plans depend almost entirely on taxes raised in the 5 boros – lots of support, and I'd expect Lander to go (quickly) the way of Andrew Yang, i.e., low ceiling hit in a hurry.

  • A Neighbor

NY is a very complex city to run, with guys with their hands out around every corner. We’ve had two mayors in a row who are in way over their heads. Lander and Stringer, who have both served as comptroller, reviewing every city contract, would bring great and much- needed expertise to city hall.

  • BH Mike

The last thing this city needs is another “progressive” politician with an affiliation with Democratic Socialist of America. Many of those progressive policies are regressive.

  • Droolyn

Is there a specific past politician you are referring to? Because it seems like we never actually get anyone from the left in office. We get corrupt DINOs like Adams instead. DSA endorsed Lincoln Restler, and they are not an easy endorsement to get. Why the DSA hate?

  • BH Mike

Why the DSA hate? There is no place for socialist ideas. Not sure what world you’re living in but anyone affiliated with DSA has done nothing good for the city, state or country. AOC, Tiffany Caban, Jumaane Williams, Bernie Sanders are all trash.

  • Droolyn

…social security? You seem to be coming at this from a very extreme perspective.

I don't understand how any of those people are "trash".

  • BH Mike

They are socialist. That’s why they are trash. Nonetheless, people keep voting for these clowns and NYC keeps going further down the sewer.

  • Nosey Neighbor

Houses are really cheap in Jackson, Mississippi and Birmingham, Alabama if you want to move

W.R. — the link above does not work for me. Are you able to post again or go into further detail? My googling about doesn't turn up any details on this.

  • Andrew Porter

    They turned it off—problem solved!

  • Andrew Porter

And the Gair Building in the distance, too, since they put up that new building:

  • Andrew Porter

Yeah, those Socialist countries (like Sweden, Denmark, etc.) are trashy places too, I heard.

Keep Goverment hands off my Social Security! (Oh, wait…)

  • Andrew Porter

Hey, I was wrong about Perelandra's closing. It didn't close on Sunday, the 22nd—it's still open, will actually close on the 29th. The shelves are increasingly empty, but they're discounting the remaining stock. Go and shop there now!

A good photo deserves repeating. Here's a 1940 tax photo showing the wonderful, now demolished Sands Street Memorial Church, corner of Clark and Henry Streets:

Thanks, Andrew! Just noticed. Better no clock than an incorrect clock.
Now we’ll find out who moves in next.

Pacer is a paid service unfortunately. The filing doesn’t say much. Restaurant filed as well. Not a lot of assets. There isn’t much color as to why they filed or the plan ahead. They will be able to reject the lease contract with the park and the park is the largest creditor.
