Italians Pay Tribute To Engine Company 205 Ladder 118 In Song

YouTube user Peter Aaron posted a video this week of what appears to be an Italian tour group paying tribute to the members of Engine Company 205 Ladder 118. Our Middagh Street firehouse lost 8 men on 9/11/01.

9/11 Widow, Steve Buscemi Speak Out Against Closing Engine 205

Marianne Fontana, whose firefighter husband died in the World Trade Center, gave an impassioned speech against Mayor Bloomberg’s planned closure of fire companies, including Engine Company 205, at a rally in front of the firehouse at 74 Middagh Street early this evening, as did actor and former firefighter Steve Buscemi. Rally for Engine 205 Tomorrow Evening

There will be a second rally to save Engine Company 205 in front of the firehouse at 74 Middagh Street, between Henry and Hicks streets, tomorrow starting at 6;00 p.m. Elected officials, firefighters, neighbors, Community Board 2 members, and maybe the odd celebrity or two will be on hand.

Actor Steve Buscemi Attends Save Engine 205 Rally in Brooklyn Heights

Brooklyn native/actor Steve Buscemi attended today’s Save Engine 205 rally on Middagh Street.  The company is one of many FDNY units on Mayor Bloomberg’s budget hitlist. Heather Quinlan was on the scene and we’ll be posting a full video report later.

Save Engine 205 Rally on Thursday

As many commenters have mentioned, there will be a rally in front of Engine Company 205, 74 Middagh Street, this Thursday (5/26) at 1pm.  The company is on the mayor’s short list of FDNY units to be cut from the city’s budget.

Bin Laden Dead: Our Brooklyn Heights Heroes Got Some Justice Tonight

Upon America’s successful assassination of Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden today,  please take a moment to remember the firefighters of our Engine Company 205 / Ladder Company 118 “Fire Under the Bridge”.  The Middagh Street station lost 8 men on 9/11/2011  including 6 who died together in their firetruck crushed under the rubble.

Branch Down on Hicks Street in Brooklyn Heights

BHB tipster “Jason” sent in this photo of FDNY cleaning up a downed tree branch (“half a tree” he says) at Hicks and Cranberry around 10pm last night. Update: The scene this morning shows many tree branches down, but neatly stacked for Sanitation Department removal.
