Marianne Fontana, whose firefighter husband died in the World Trade Center, gave an impassioned speech against Mayor Bloomberg’s planned closure of fire companies, including Engine Company 205, at a rally in front of the firehouse at 74 Middagh Street early this evening, as did actor and former firefighter Steve Buscemi. There will be a second rally to save Engine Company 205 in front of the firehouse at 74 Middagh Street, between Henry and Hicks streets, tomorrow starting at 6;00 p.m. Elected officials, firefighters, neighbors, Community Board 2 members, and maybe the odd celebrity or two will be on hand.

Brooklyn native/actor Steve Buscemi attended today’s Save Engine 205 rally on Middagh Street. The company is one of many FDNY units on Mayor Bloomberg’s budget hitlist. Heather Quinlan was on the scene and we’ll be posting a full video report later.

As many commenters have mentioned, there will be a rally in front of Engine Company 205, 74 Middagh Street, this Thursday (5/26) at 1pm. The company is on the mayor’s short list of FDNY units to be cut from the city’s budget.
