Rehabilitation work on the Brooklyn Bridge necessitates closing the Manhattan bound lanes from 11:59 Friday to 6:00 a.m. Monday this (October 5-8) and next (October 12-15) weekend, according to information just received from Notify NYC. Brooklyn-bound traffic will be maintained under a “counter-flow” operation with Brooklyn-bound traffic traveling in the normally Manhattan-bound lanes. The anchorages on the Brooklyn side of the Brooklyn Bridge are to be sandblasted to remove lead paint. The work is slated to begin tomorrow, and will not affect existing traffic patterns, according the the Community Outreach for the Brooklyn Bridge Rehabilitation.
