Walk Photos: Brooklyn Heights and Brooklyn Bridge Park

These photos were taken during several walks on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 14 to 16. Hydrangeas were in bloom on Remsen Street just east of Hicks. Basic work appears complete on the first of the sound attenuating berms meant to shield Brooklyn Bridge Park from the noise of the BQE. A view from the […]

More Walk Photos: Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn Bridge Park, and Fulton Ferry Historic District

The showy tulips, daffodils, and purple irises of May are gone from the Promenade Gardens, but these pretty red and white blossoms were, like June, bustin’ out. Crossing the Pedestrian bridge from Squibb Park, I noticed that preliminary work appears to be underway for the Pierhouse hotel and condo complex. I shot this crossing the […]

Walk Photos: Brooklyn Heights, DUMBO, Fulton Ferry Historic District, and Brooklyn Bridge Park

Saturday’s walk took me to the library to return some books, then to DUMBO, to Brooklyn Bridge Park, then back into the Heights. These purple flowers were at the southern entrance to Cadman Plaza Park. There was soccer action on the field south of the Brooklyn War Memorial (Eggers and Higgins, sculpture by Charles Keck, […]

Your correspondent and family returned from visiting friends on Cape Cod Sunday, having endured a rainy, chilly couple of days there. We understand it was, if anything, worse here. I was delighted to get up Monday ready to enjoy one more day’s holdiday, and find bright sunshine and milder temperatures. So, I took a walk. […]

Your correspondent is off for a long weekend starting tomorrow. The Bugs and Blooms tour of Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 1 put me in a botanical frame of mind, so when I started on a short early evening walk today, I couldn’t resist photographing these especially lovely purple irises growing in the garden by the […]

Cherry blossoms provided a splash of color at the Promenade’s north end. Brilliant green ferns on the Pier 1, Brooklyn […]

Mid-day Walk Photos

Having slept in for a while this morning, I got a somewhat later start than usual on my Saturday walk, heading out shortly before noontime. As I walked, I noticed that the Forsythia, which were just beginning to bloom last week, and pear blossoms, which were not to be seen then, were profuse along Hicks […]

Forsythia!

Forsythia blooming next to the garden wall on Hicks Street between Grace Court and Remsen proclaims (along with reopened sidewalk dining) that spring is truly here. Never mind that, after a couple days of sunshine and temperatures in the 70s, the weather forecast predicts nothing but more dreariness.
