The moniker is the “nom de blog” of Brooklyn Bugle Media founder John Loscalzo, who took it from a novel he read while growing up in Queens, NY. It was called, naturally, The Adventures of Homer Fink by Sidney Offit.“Loscalzo” may be familiar to those who grew up during the “alternative rock” era. He spent most of the 80s and 90s on great radio stations like WNYU, WPDH, WRCN, WDRE and WXRK (K-Rock) in New York as well as KROQ in Los Angeles. NY Daily News Reports on “Judge Blockhead” and the Bevacco Lawsuit
Mohammad Muktadir’s sexual harassment suit against the owners of Bevacco took a strange twist recently reports the NY Daily News. According to the paper, Federal Judge Frederic Block who is “notorious for shooting from the lip” told a colleague that he was currently working on a “stupid little trial.” That comment was heard by one of the juror’s and the judge admitted to making the “faux pas.”
Watch Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks’ DUMBO Movie Shoot
Steven Spielberg’s Cold War movie – now titled St. James Place – starring Tom Hanks, transformed the Anchorage Place area in DUMBO into the 1960s this weekend. Gothamist posted some great photos yesterday and many residents took to social media today to document the action. The film is scheduled to be released in October 2015. Filming in DUMBO ends Monday.
