Hot on the heels of the BHB Ten, the Brooklyn Paper has named its 90 to Watch in ’09. Coming in at number 2 is Brooklyn Heights’ own Dan “Busted Chef” Kaufman: Brooklyn Paper: 90 to Watch…: 2. Dan Kaufman: The co-owner of the Busy Chef restaurants, who was arrested last year on charges of […]

Busted Chef Case Still Going
Dan “Busted Chef” Kaufman’s next day in court will be December 26, 2008 as determined at his last court appearance on October 15, according to Kings County Criminal Court records. Contrary to erroneous reports on the Internets, no decision or plea have been recorded.
Hooters? Not Likely
We’ve heard that some people on the Internets have mentioned a “rumor” started by “someone who posted a sign” at 60 Henry regarding a Hooters moving into that space. First, let’s just all calm down and remember the whole “Cigar Bar” hoax of 2007 (and its lame follow up Penelope’s Playspace) at that same location. […]
Action at Busy Chef
As BHB Community member “Yo” pointed out yesterday, there’s something going on at the site formerly known as Busy Chef at 60 Henry Street. There also seems to be activity at the old Wine Bar space at 50 Henry Street. BHB regular nabeguy commented yesterday, “I also saw the activity in the Wine Bar space. […]
North Heights Residents Invited to Meeting About Rats.
A reader has advised us that she has received a flyer inviting residents of Cranberry, Middagh, and Willow Streets to a meeting at 20 Willow, at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, September 29, to discuss the issue of rats in the neighborhood. Given the comment on this week’s Open Thread Wednesday about a foul odor emanating […]
Chef of the Flies
“CS” sends in this photo, commenting: I was just walking past Busy Chef on Court Street and there were dozens of flies on the inside of the windows. Seems like they might have closed up in a rush. Wouldn’t be surprised if they left food behind and there were thousands of flies in there… The […]
Former Busy Chef Employee: Alex
If you’re looking to hire a barista, look no further than former Busy Chef employee Alex. Any interested employers should contact BHB (webmaster AT brooklynheightsblog.com) and we’ll put you in contact with him. Here’s his resume:
Busted Chef’s Apartment Ransacked
The Brooklyn Paper reports that “Busted Chef” Dan Kaufman’s Pierrepont Street apartment – which the paper writes he rents from Busy Chef owner Alan Young – had its locks changed and was ransacked this week. The paper’s calls to Young for comment went unanswered: Brooklyn Paper: Busted Chef…: For the record, Brill said his client […]
Prophecy on Henry?
A BHB newshound sent in this photo taken on Henry Street. An ad for ready.gov on a phone booth across from the ill fated Busy Chef and associated restaurants reads: “At least one in four businesses never open after a disaster.”
Corner of Cranberry: What’s Next?
UPDATE: Sadly, it appears now that the Wine Bar at 50 Henry Street, the best by far of the lot, has closed, according to the Brooklyn Eagle. With news that three four of the four “Corner of Cranberry” businesses have been shuttered (looks like the liquor license for the 60 Henry businesses expires tomorrow), we’re […]
