Reminder: Brazilian Dance Party Tomorrow on Pier 1

Tomorrow (Thursday, May 17) starting at 7;00 p.m. there will be a Brazilian dance party at Pier 1 (enter at foot of Old Fulton Street), Brooklyn Bridge Park, featuring Nation Beat (see video after the jump), Maracatu New York, and DJ Greg Caz. Admission to the party is free; food and drinks will be available from vendors. More details are here.

Brooklyn Bridge Park: Spring Fling & 5K Race 3/31

Brooklyn Bridge Park has two events coming up on Saturday, March 31: Its family-oriented Spring Fling and the annual Eileen C. Dugan Memorial 5K race.

First up: Spring Fling takes place from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Empire Fulton Ferry section of the park. Brooklyn Heights Girls in City Ballet’s Nutcracker

Today’s Daily News has a story about a group of kids from Brooklyn who have been chosen to play children’s roles in the New York City Ballet’s production of George Balanchine’s Nutcracker at Lincoln Center this season. Among those getting special mention, and photos, are Brooklyn Heights residents Elizabeth Haarsgaard, 9, who plays a girl at a party, and Tierney Solmo, 11, who plays a doll.
