Italians Pay Tribute To Engine Company 205 Ladder 118 In Song

YouTube user Peter Aaron posted a video this week of what appears to be an Italian tour group paying tribute to the members of Engine Company 205 Ladder 118. Our Middagh Street firehouse lost 8 men on 9/11/01.

FDNY Responds to Fire at 31 Willow Street

St. George Hotel Fire 16 Years Ago Today

BHB contributor Weegee points out to us that today is the 16th anniversary of St. George Hotel fire. The 18 alarm blaze devastated the building, which in its early days was touted as being “absolutely fire-proof“. FDNY chief Steven DeRosa wrote about the blaze on FDNewYork.com:

Actor Steve Buscemi Attends Save Engine 205 Rally in Brooklyn Heights

Brooklyn native/actor Steve Buscemi attended today’s Save Engine 205 rally on Middagh Street.  The company is one of many FDNY units on Mayor Bloomberg’s budget hitlist. Heather Quinlan was on the scene and we’ll be posting a full video report later.
