Subway Service Alerts: Brooklyn Heights and Nearby

I’m calling this weekend — late Friday evening, August 18 through early Monday morning, August 21 — a “green light weekend,” as there are no planned service changes, apart from 2 trains running on a reduced schedule; every 12 minutes. Indeed, there will be extra service in both directions at Court Street and at the N/R platforms at Jay Street-MetroTech, as N trains, which normally go over the Manhattan Bridge except late at night, will be taking the R line between DeKalb Avenue in Brooklyn and Canal Street in Manhattan all weekend.

Making up for this nice weekend, the following work week — Monday, August 21 through Friday, August 25 — there are many changes affecting late night service. Late nights Monday to Tuesday through Wednesday to Thursday there will be no Manhattan bound service at York Street in DUMBO, as Manhattan bound F trains will be re-routed to the A/C line between Jay Street-MetroTech in Brooklyn and Canal Street in Manhattan. This means there will be extra late night Manhattan bound service at High Street. Late nights Monday to Tuesday and Tuesday to Wednesday there will be no R service in either direction at Court Street or at the N/R plaforms at Jay Street-MetroTech, as R trains will not be running between Whitehall Street-South Ferry in Manhattan and 59th Street in Brooklyn. There will also be no Manhattan bound N service at these stations, as Manhattan bound N trains will be re-routed to the Q line. However, in a sort of do-si-do, Manhattan bound Q trains will be running on the N/R line, and Brooklyn bound N trains should be running normally.Late night Wednesday to Thursday there will be no Brooklyn bound service at Court Street or at the N/R platforms at Jay Street-MetroTech, as Brooklyn bound N trains will be re-routed to the Q line and R trains won’t be running in either direction. Manhattan bound N trains should be running normally at these stations. Late night Thursday to Friday there will be no Brooklyn bound N service at Court Street or at the N/R platforms at Jay Street-MetroTech, as Brooklyn bound N trains will be re-routed to the Q line.
