Why don’t we have a contest or listing of the best Christmas building decoration, The best indoor tree and the best wreath?

Too tacky. Not GQ enough for BH.

Any recommendations for drop off laundry? I have been using the place on montague next to dashing diva, but their service is not the best. Thanks!
AEB
Yeah, Plaza Cleaners on Henry between Orange and Cranberry. You have to drop off your stuff weekdays before 10:00 AM–and you pick it up after five.
It’s done and packed with obsessive precision: everything is folded square. If you send it in a bag, its two bottom corners are “tied” with rubber bands to square the bag off. Remarkable! And the work is fine.

I am in the south heights (State near Clinton) and it appears NYPD (and DoSanitation) may be towing for alternate side today. Smy husband and I are both off from work so we figured we’d wait with the car and get the spot in front of the house. While I was getting coffee he said he saw a car get towed by an NYPD truck (not sure if that means its a scofflaw thing or not or an ASP tow.) And the parking ticket officers who usually tell me to just cross the street when the truck comes through told me today to fully move 10 mins into the start of ASP. After I moved I talked to one Sanit-man and he said they have been having flooding problems with the falling leaves so they have to keep running trucks till they get the leaves up, but cars unattended is making it impossible. Just a warning to anyone who may have an unattended car right now (particularly if you are in an all day ASP spot.) I want you to actually be able to go to grandmas house tomorrow! Happy holidays!

There’s a house on Sydney Place that would triumph in such a contest. It features a life-sized Santa climbing up the ledge like an intruder and all sorts of inflatable elves and other characters around the front porch. Worth checking out if you haven’t seen it!

Of course, you can also have laundry done by them on Saturdays, but you have to bring it and pick it up earlier.

If you like decent service but haphazard billing, try Golden Hanger. They do a good job but will forget to charge your credit card for weeks, sometimes months. Or worse yet say you owe them money when you’ve paid them.

After dark walk along Pierrepont St from Columbia Hts toward Willow and look up high and to the left. There is a wonderful light show at the top of an apartment building.

First of all, Christmas decorations aren’t always in bad taste. My family and I al ways do a walk around to look at the very nice efforts the Heights does to Make the Christmas season better for everyone visiting our community.

Did anyone notice a lot of noise in the neighborhood last night–after eleven o’clock?
Rick
Yes! I have to admit I looked out our window, feeling like Gladys Kravitz! There were a group of what looked to be college-age kids walking up and down Hicks Street near the intersection of Love Lane. They were very loud, shouting to each other from a distance and cursing and laughing. I thought they were probably drunk. I first noticed it after 11PM, but they returned around 12:30AM. I couldn’t figure why they were hanging out randomly on Hicks Street in the rain for so long.

Happy Holidays to all. And, this advice — for any last minute gifts, I’d recommend that you do not buy any PANASONIC products. They have the world’s worst customer service I’ve ever encountered. You will get nowhere — even if the product is still under warranty.

Can anyone recommend a bar with a backroom or event space nearby that can hold 60-90 people for a big birthday party for not too much $$? We may just end up at Floyd but am hoping for something better.

How about Re-Bar. Oh wait… never mind!

Oh for the days of firms like Zenith, Sylvania, Packard, etc etc which stood behind their products. Remember when satisfaction Guaranteed really meant exactly that…

Before further comment, I want to wish everyone A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! all the best to all of you and your families.

In the ’90s, I could recommend Panasonic because you would never *need* their customer service. I’m still using at least four of their products-that-wouldn’t-die.

Question: did anyone else hear or see the UNBELIEVABLE amount of helicopter activity last night (27th) extending To like 4:30-5 AM today (28th)? The activity was from between one to at times three choppers (NYPD?, Other Govt agencies?) Which were hovering at various LOW Alts. Near and over Borough Hall. The racket was UN- RELENTING for hours! Two of my neighbors went up on their roofs at like 3 and 4 AM then called the 84 pct Who said the activity was not related to any perp search but “may” be related to “anti terrorist activity” nothing like that to quiet fears…so what WAS going on??? THAT Amount of hardware up there for THAT amount of HOURS? Someone make a major credible Threat to a target in the Civic center area? Uh, just a Note; the normal NYPD aviation frequencies were totally quiet including the new band and, citywide One to three and the general 84/88 pct frequencies were fairly quiet outside of an unrelated shooting
