Schumer Backs Squadron For Public Advocate

In an unsurprising move, Sen. Chuck Schumer announced his backing our man in the NYS Senate Daniel Squadron in his bid for NYC Public Advocate. Squadron served as an assistant for Schumer before running for state senate.

Brooklyn Daily Eagle: Squadron (D-Brooklyn Heights) is running in a crowded field of candidates for the job currently held by Bill de Blasio, who is term-limited and a mayoral candidate. Squadron is fighting it out with Councilwoman Letitia James (D-Clinton Hill-Fort Greene), former deputy public advocate Reshma Saujani, college professor Cathy Guerriero, and Sidique Wai, a community relations specialist for the New York Police Department for the Democratic Party’s nomination. The primary is in September.

“Daniel has a proven record of getting results for everyday New Yorkers,” Schumer said in his endorsement announcement. “From passing landmark new gun laws to rolling up his sleeves to help New Yorkers impacted by Sandy, he knows how to deliver,” New York’s senior senator said.

As of press time, Schumer has not endorsed another former staffer, Anthony Weiner, in his bid for mayor.
