The Hole in the Ground from Heather Quinlan on Vimeo.
I was chatting with Harry from the Clark Street Restaurant about the continuing saga of the hole in the ground. To recap: a hole where a tree should go on Clark and Henry is instead treeless, due to the number of trucks that round the corner and drive onto the sidewalk. So rather than a tree in the ground, there is dirt and muck and all manner of unspeakable things. So I asked Harry: Who owns the hole? (Venture Properties.) Are there any plans to do anything about it? (No.) But it’s not for lack of trying—Harry told me he had planted a tree that was subsequently pulled out of the ground. Then, large square planters put on either side had to be removed because they blocked the sidewalk. However, the smaller planters may dress up the hole so Key Food trucks don’t take it out. See for yourself.
