Update: Alternate side rules are now suspended through Wednesday, January 10. New York City public schools are open tomorrow (Friday, January 4), including for all scheduled after-school activities. Packer, Brooklyn Friends, and Brooklyn Heights Montessori remain on regular Winter Break. We suspect St. Ann’s does, too, but they’ve yet to update their January calendar. Having […]

Tropical Storm Warning Issued Today

Update: The forecast as of now (Sunday, 1:30 p.m.) is for little if any rain (none today, a 20% chance tomorrow, and none Tuesday or Wednesday) but high winds tomorrow and Tuesday. Hermine is on the way, in time to spoil your Labor Day (and I’m a poet and didn’t know it.) This just in […]

Mayor Says Keep Warm This Weekend.

That’s right. According to our friends at Carroll Gardens Patch, Mayor de Blasio has warned of “life-threatening wind chills” this Valentine’s Day weekend. All the more reason to stay inside and–uh–snuggle! Take heart–as it were–though. The map at the linked story shows us as only getting “Wind Chill Advisory”, meaning “values will be as low […]
