Squibb Park Pool?

Saturday’s steady rain turned a large portion of Squibb Park’s surface into an impromptu wading pool, enjoyed by many on Sunday.

    Mosquito heaven.

Looks like they forgot to put drains in when it was renovated. Wait until it all collapses and closes down the no longer wobbly bridge for a few more years. Before the renovation, Cadman Park flooded so badly that a pair of ducks stayed in the south field for a couple of days.

There is a drain but it’s always been backed up. I’m not sure if it’s permanently backed up or the debris gets washed in every time it rains.

The foundation of that bridge looks like it will be all that remains of NYC in 10,000 years.

Curiously, it’s in the same place as the sprinkler pool that was removed during the “renovation”.

That sprinkler pool was one of the very few remaining kiddie water features that used to be common in every NY playground, when I was a kid.
