More Info on Traffic Re-Routing for BQE Repairs Next Weekend

Anita Navalurkar, of the NYC Department of Transportation, has supplied information (see below) concerning the re-routing of traffic in Brooklyn during repair work on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway this coming weekend — early Saturday morning, October 14 to early Monday morning, October 16. There’s a detailed description of the planned traffic changes, with maps, here.

Some preparatory work is being done at the repair locations under Clark Street and under Grace Court this weekend. “The contractor will install formwork, sandblast existing rebars and install new rebars and install temporary striping and signage.

Bad link. It goes to gmail.com, not the actual email.

Wondering whether this work is still going to go forward after the wall collapse on the prospect expressway… the immediate emergency typically trumps even the most important preventative work.

The link works for me. I’ve tried various ways to link the attachments to her email to the post, but I can’t get anything to work. I’m going to have to revise the post extensively,

Works now. Not sure if you changed anything or if I was just an idiot before.

All cleared up. The wall did not collapse, only the cladding, and this was apparently due to the extreme rainfall the previous week.

Of course it was related to the rainfall! Love that there was even a question about that…
All signs definitely point to the bqe shutdown proceeding as plans. It’s guess that they’ll start taking down any sections of cladding that remain on the prospect expressway soon.

Just came here to report that there have been tons of left turns onto Clinton from Atlantic today, with traffic cops observing. Not sure about Hicks.
