There’s lots of activity at the south end of Pier 1 now.

Meanwhile, a mini-forest is starting to take shape near the foot of Pier 3.

In photos 1 and 2, what is that building to the left by Furman St (adjacent to the 2 long lines of something)? Is that building going to stay, or what will happen to that space? What was that building during its prior lifetime?

Hmm, seems to be moving along at a “Ground Zero-esque” pace.

anon, I’m curious about those 2 buidlings (you say to the left of Furman, but I think you mean left of photograph, right of Furman?).

I’m curious what the plan is for them, they seem to be leaving them, but currently they seem to be empty/abandoned. I can’t find reference to them in the park plan, although they are outlined in the sketches, as those they will stay.

To the best of my recollection, those buildings, which are now unused warehouses, are slated to be demolished to make way for a proposed combination hotel/condo. Given the present economic conditions, that seems unlikely to happen soon.

I’m not sure about the hotel being on hold, haven’t read one way or another. But the downtown Marriot continues to operate at capacity (after adding hundreds of rooms in an addition). By the time the hotel is actually built, it may be just fine.
