Tazza on Clark has opened an arch into the other half of that retail space (formerly one big space, which some years back they walled off). Anyone know the story?

I saw this photo at the Historical Society, and can’t figure out the location. Street sign says Henry but this corner must be pre BQE? https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/c596f69e7a10399ff9f547e38c54f3594747e187a7dc058005881423c0abae30.jpg

Well there’s a like 54 Pontiac parked in the lot and a pretty new looking 56 or more likely 57 Buick parked on the street so that dates the photo somewhat….(both cars scandalously lack such basics as lake pipes or louvered hoods so…)

Henry and Middagh, I think, looking east.

Prior to implementation of the Title I plan, which didn’t occur until the early 60s?

Does anyone else remember the enormous Quonset huts on or just off Atlantic Avenue near the jail? Would have to be the late 1950s. Whenever I pass that area, I seem to see them . . . .

Looking east, yes. Before the Ace Wire Brush building was constructed, now the site of the building housing Lena Dunham. And before the BQE, in the days when you had to drive local streets out to Coney Island and the Rockaways, hence the directions on the street sign.

Still there in the late 1960s, I think; at least one of them, anyway. I have no images to share.
