Well, Judy Stanton of the BHA lived in the part of the Heights where the lights were placed. Enough said.

  • Jorale-man

That’s really strange that they’d only focus on the south Heights. I’ve always thought the 1960’s cobra lights look especially out of place on the streets you mention, along with the fruit streets.

The one thing I worry about with this new tower – and which few other people seem to mention – is again the strain on infrastructure that these mega-towers pose. Presumably the thousands of residents of this new building will use the Dekalb street subway stop, which includes the R train, or maybe they’ll get on the 2/3 at Hoyt. Either way, it means even more crowding on the system.

    Ah, life is so simple.

    Not complaining. Just observing.

To the owner of the gray Honda Fit, NJ # E45 EUB, parked on Pierrepont St just east of Hicks:

My condolences. Looks like someone comp’ed you a new paint job.

  • StudioBrooklyn

Here’s a wider view. Paint was spilled on your front bumper and grill, as well as in the street.

What is really needed are latest generation of light units which:

    1) project an oval shaped pattern which clearly light but are not harsh.
and while a higher level of effective light do NOT intrude into even
    first floor windows.

    2) Project a package of light a element of which is OUTSIDE the
range of human slight. But while the non-visable light cannon be
seen, to cameras in the area, its brighter than day! Leading to
    MUCH higher resolution images.

Of course, should word of non visible lighting becomes street know-
ledge, is represents one more powerful deterrent for the less reason
    able elements always among us.

I’m not saying the Tesla isn’t a well integrated product. But all the zero carbon footprint heads out there need to understand a basic fact about all
electric cars…e cars are FAR more energy intensive to BUILD. So much so that it world take TEN YEARS of average driving to represent a lower total carbon impact….sorry Egon….have to tell the truth here.

Now my HEMI Cuda awaits me…

I’d love to see Joe and Alyssa become more active participants on the blog, rather than popping in solely to promote their own work. Pretty common protocol on blogs/forums, etc. to frown upon self-promotion from those not actively engaged in the online community.

    Protest for what, the conviction?
The bungling idiots gross negligence and stupidity cost an innocent man his life. Off the force and in prison sounds about right to me.

I’m not about to go digging up links right this second but the mining processes of precious metals, such as lithium (sometimes in areas such as rainforests) in order to manufacture the batteries for these vehicles, are a legitimate cause for further scrutiny. I heard (somewhere) that the Prius battery in particular leaves a much worse net ecological damage “footprint” than the emissions over the life of the average SUV.

That said, I’m confident that battery technology will improve in such a way that its environmental impact will be further diminished, while the same can’t really be said of gasoline. Once the grid that charges those batteries becomes “greener”, we’ll really be making positive steps.

Listen AS, Why don’t YOU and all your casino friends try to do some verticle patrols in some nearly dark often drug and weapons infested project stairways and THEN you and your ilk can address police practices and behavior. YOU try to safeguard the lives of New Yorkers in some of the nearly impossible physical and bearucratic atmosphere the police have to operate in. THEN genius casino types can express an opinion.

  • Jeff Zero Point Energy Smith

First of all, Egon and the entire lower carbon footprint crowdalmost religion, carefully divert attention from what Tesla was really about and the fact that, according to many witnesses I have directly spoken to, Tesla had a working fuel less car which was electric but had no and didn’t need batteries. The REAL Tesla car ran off one of his Tesla cells which again according to many witnesses drew power from…well here scientific opinion diverges, from the either, hyperspace_ the pre state of energy, But the point is, Tesla was all about over unity devices. In other words, more power out than you put in. Over 100% efficiency. Or, infinite efficiency because you have a device/system which taps the latent, virtuial energy in space converts it to a coherent form and does useful work with it.

THAT’S the real Tesla car….and he had it in the mid 20’s to the late 1930’s…

    Question for neighborhood dog owners/walkers:

I don’t have a dog because my apartment is too small and I can’t afford one, but I absolutely love dogs and I often want to stop and vicariously pet, hug, and/or kiss your dogs when I see them out and about. But I also want to be sensitive to whether this is annoying or inconvenient for you. Should I be exercising more restraint in asking people whether it’s okay to detain them while I nuzzle their furry pets or is it basically open season? I never really learned what the proper etiquette is in the “stop and pet other people’s dogs” department.

I’m directing this especially at people with large dogs.

I have been in plenty of housing projects, dark stairwells, abandon buildings and all kinds of dangerous places, armed and unarmed. So by your standards, I must have more of a valid opinion on this issue than YOU.
Yup the police have a dangerous job, that’s what they get paid for. If a cop doesn’t have enough in their sack to do the job, they shouldn’t be on the force. As shown by this tragedy, a cop that doesn’t follow protocol is a danger to those he is supposedly trying to protect.
