Brush Up On Your Survival Skills At Brooklyn Bridge Park Saturday

Terrified of what the outcome of this year’s election may bring? Want to learn how to live off the land? Come to Brooklyn Bridge Park’s HQ, 334 Furman Street (foot of Joralemon, just past the BQE overpass) at 3:00 p.m. this Saturday, February 20, for the start of a Foraging Tour.

Join author and forager Marie Viljoen on a brisk botanical stroll to discover the indigenous edible plants of Brooklyn Bridge Park. Learn how to spot them in the growing year, how to use them in the kitchen, and where to plant them in your own gardens.

Seriously, if you’ve wondered if any of the plants you see growing wild nearby could supplement your diet, this is for you. The fee for the tour is $5 for Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy members, and $10 for non-members. A bargain, considering what you might save on your grocery bill. At first, I thought the headline was, “Brush Up Your Shakespeare…”

I’d be into that. I wonder how much crossover there would be between the thespians and the survivalists?
