Today (Friday, July 25) the Brooklyn Heights Cinema will have its premiere showings of A Most Wanted Man, starring the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman and based on a novel by spy fiction master John le Carré. It will continue to show through the weekend and the following week, along with Chef. On Saturday evening at 11:30 there will be another “almost midnight” showing of Willow Creek. This evening at 7:00 Bargemusic will present a concert of works by Handel and Brahms performed by pianist Gerald Robbins. Tomorrow (Saturday, July 26) evening at 7:00 Cyrus Beroukhim (violin and viola), Nuno Antunes (clarinet), and Olga Vinokur (piano) will perform works by Mozart, Bartok, and Schumann. On Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pianist Stewart Goodyear will have the fourth and last in his series of concerts presenting the complete piano sonatas of Beethoven. Brooklyn Bridge Park will present a Family Field Day at Pier 5 tomorrow (Saturday, July 26) from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; more information here. Also at Brooklyn Bridge Park this Sunday, the Pier Kids series presents the Central Park Zoo Wildlife Theater’s Amazing Adaptations: The Dinosaur Adventure on the Pier 6 lawns from 11:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m. Also on Sunday Smorgasburg will be on the Pier 5 uplands (near the Joralemon Street entrance) from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and, starting at noon, there will be a free Docent Tour of Pier 1. Don’t forget the Baylander tours starting this weekend.
