BHA Updates: Vigil for Pedestrian Safety Sunday; Garbage Pickup Resumes Today

The Brooklyn Heights Association sends us this notice:

We hope you will join us and other Brooklynites in a candlelight vigil for pedestrian safety at 4:30 on Sunday, January 26, at the intersection of Wyckoff, Palmetto and Myrtle Avenues, outside the Myrtle-Wyckoff subway station on the L Line.

The vigil pays tribute to all New Yorkers killed in traffic crashes in 2013 and the 11 who have already been killed in 2014.

There’s more information here about the vigil and “Vision Zero.”

The BHA also advises us:

Garbage collection is expected to resume today (Friday). Regular garbage will be picked up during the day and night. Please have bags out where they will be easily reached, and expect delays while the DSNY catches up with the backlogs.

Please hold recyclables back until we receive another update from the Sanitation Department.
