What ever happen to the good guy in a wheelchair that was a big contributor to this blog?

Note the refurbished Carnegie Library in Woodhaven,Queens in todays NY Daily News. That is in addition to the new above ground sun filled new library in Glen Oaks Queens displayed last week. How is it that Queens gets its libraries right and Brooklyn can’t. Why not hire Queens to run the Brooklyn Public Library and get rid of our inept administration??

Who knows what’s going in on the ground floor of the St. George Tower? In the space last occupied by Palmira, the mediocre Italian restaurant. It’s beginning to look a lot less commercial, and a little more residential to me.

There’s an older post/link from the blog that gives the heads up…it is becoming a sales office and model(s) for the condos going into the park at Pier1…

Enough from you already with the libraries. We are getting a brand new library in The Heights and the pee-scented hole in the ground will be gone forever – THANK GOD. Most people in the hood are excitied about the change. All you do is try to fight every bit of progress that is good. It’s like it is your full time job.

  • BrooklynBugle

Great to have you back on the show Bongo.

  • MonroeOrange

Marsha…there is whole other thread about libraries, must you hijack every thread (yes, i get this is the open thread). When you constantly say the same thing, your message gets lost. I love the library, used it since i was a child, but this blog isn’t gonna save it. I disagree with HenryLoL mind you, but you are making it very difficult to be on your side due to your constant BLABBER.

    BLABBER

Some states are ahead of the curve with dog poop. This was taken in PA.

I’m still waiting for the opening of the Taperia restaurant at 132 Montague. Does anyone know what the story is? They were going along nicely with construction and it looks so promising, but then everything halted.

  • Diana B.

Does anyone know a reasonable upholsterer in the area?

  • marshasrimler

    No need to get nasty

  • PistachioPony

What is up with the dog that barks non-stop somewhere on Hicks St or Poplar? Maybe Willow. I feel sorry for it and it must be driving those that live close by completely insane.

  • Karl Junkersfeld

That dog is driving me crazy. Does anyone know the address. I submitted a film about that dog to Homer but we changed our mind. Please, someone, tell me where that dog is located.

  • DIBS

Asked this last week but no response. There was a story here about a new bread shop opening near the 2/3 Clark St station. Doesn’t look like there’s any work on any such space. Anyone know?

  • MonroeOrange

    yes…BLABBBBBBBBEEEERRRRR!

  • MonroeOrange

so if the pet waste transmits diseases…maybe the owners of pets shouldn’t be picking it up…bc they can get a disease from it!

I took my 1st trip in an ambulance this past Sunday to LICH. Thank goodness they were still there. It’s great to see there is a clinic opening on Cadman Plaza however it’s not 24/7

I have been following the LICH closing stories but hadn’t spoken out before. Now, I see the urgency of having an ER in close proximity. As it was the trip around the block seemed like it took forever. I can only hope that I never have to be in an ambulance again & if Gd forbid I do — there is a hospital close by.

Can someone on the blog put me in touch with those fighting for LICH. Thanks.

  • cat

Does anyone know of a great chiropractor in the neighborhood? I have tried and few including physiologic and find them lacking. I used to go to Marc Kaplan. He was great.

  • BrooklynBird

    It’s inside the station.

  • Remsen Street Dweller

    Hi Sheila,
Great to hear from you and glad you’re ok.

We have a group called Patients for LICH, which was started by Sue Raboy, a woman in the Heights whose life was saved there.

The contact info is on the graphic below. I think she’s away for a few days, so there might be a slight delay in her contacting you.

  • bongo23

I like to be here when I can

  • MonroeOrange

you should really put notes all around the the block where you hear the noise..if you can locate the home, call 311 constantly…they will send the police to investigate after numerous complaints.

  • jivika

I miss the police blotter! Where’s Heather? Please come back!

  • BrooklynBugle

Heather promises to bring the blotter back in a couple of weeks.

  • DIBS

I’ll have to look again. I went through the station about a week ago looking for it and nothing.

  • tksmall

I bump into him all the time… He probably doesn’t participate as much due to work. The last time I saw him, he mentioned that he had a new job, and was doing well.
