Wheel Thieves Strike Again

A Range Rover sits forlornly, bereft of left wheels and propped up on a partially collapsed plastic milk crate, on Pierrepont Place, between Montague and Pierrepont Streets, this morning. We don’t know if this is the work of the same crooks who, over the weekend, took the wheels from a Honda CR-V parked on Henry Street between Joralemon and State streets, as reported in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle, also in this week’s Brooklyn Heights Press (p.5), but it’s the same modus operandi, down to the lug nuts neatly clustered on the pavement.

I remember crime of this sort in the 70s and 80s and I hope it is not on the way back. I also remember the low crime early 60s and know how fast things can change.

Steven and Vanessa are gonna be really surprised when they try to head up to the farm this weekend!

Hello Brooklyn: You are hilarious. actually I think Steven and Vanessa can afford their place in Brooklyn Heights because their place in the country is a chop shop. They drive a Chevy Truck and load it up every Friday night with Range Rover wheels. No one suspects them because Steven (Stephen to you) is always holding a fine aged cognac while Vanessa operates the lug wrench.

These thieves are on a roll. I just saw a fancy Nissan on Kane St between Henry and Strong Pl (Cobble Hill) missing all four wheels and with two collapsed milk crates on both sides, just like in the picture – ironically the car is around the block from the Union St precinct….

I wonder if the vehicle got a parking ticket too? Bloomberg still wants to get paid.
