This Wednesday, November 14, starting at 6:00 p.m., the Brooklyn Historical Society, located at Clinton and Pierrepont, in conjunction with the Brooklyn Heights Association and the New York Preservation Project, will present a discussion focusing on the importance of Brooklyn Heights as New York City's first historic district. Participants will be Francis Morrone, historian, journalist, teacher and author of An Architectural Guidebook to Brooklyn, as well as the weekly "Abroad in New York" column in the New York Sun, and Anthony C. Wood, member of the faculty of the Columbia University Historic Preservation Program, founder of the New York Preservation Archive Project, and author of Preserving New York: Winning the Right to Protect a City's Landmarks. The discussion will be moderated by Otis Pratt Pearsall, who spearheaded the movement that led to the Heights' being declared New York City's first landmarked historic district.
