This week, the 84th precinct was closed to reporters, so in lieu of police blotters this week, we thought we’d do a quick analysis of crime trends so far in 2009.
Looking at this week’s CompStat report, almost every major crime category has stayed steady or seen a decline in 2009 when compared to the same period last year. One prominent increase over 2008 has been the recent rise in grand larceny auto, which has seen a 6.9% increase.
In 2009, there have been no murders, however, there have been two reported cases of rape. Robbery is down 35 percent, and felony assault is down almost 20 percent. So, for the most part, 2009 has been a safer year in Brooklyn Heights.
