March On: CFAF Offers Heights “Family Walking Tour”
Until the next Homer Fink Hidden Brooklyn Heights tour, New York’s Center for Architecture Foundation (CFAF), in collaboration with the Brooklyn Historical Society, is offering a “Family Walking Tour of Historic Brooklyn Heights.” The excursion, which takes place Saturday, March 17 (rain date on the 18th) from 2-4 p.m., will “explore the architecture of this beautiful, historic neighborhood on an interactive walking tour with CFAF Educator Jane Cowan.” Continue Reading →

Mil’s Trill’s Returns: More Musical Fun for Tots at Vineapple Thursday 12/8
Mil’s Trills, a fun music show for kids 0-4 years of age, returns to Vineapple [71 Pineapple Street] this Thursday (12/8) at 3:30pm. There’s a $15 suggested donation.
This week’s feature guest is musician Tyler Sussman, who will be playing the flute and didgeridoo.

Brooklyn Bridge Animals Holiday Extravaganza Saturday
The Brooklyn Bridge Animal Welfare Coalition will hold its second annual Winter Holiday Extravaganza and Fundraiser this coming Saturday, December 3, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Rocco & Jezebel for Pets, 89 Pineapple Walk. The event will feature: pet adoptions; photos with Santa for pets, kids and adults; a raffle; face painting; craft and holiday gifts for family, friends and pets; tree trimmings; a microchip clinic; munchies and music.

Mil’s Trills Returns: More Fun for Tots This Thursday at Vineapple
Mil’s Trills, local musician Amelia Robinson’s interactive music showcase for kids 0- 4 years of age, returns to Vineapple (71 Pineapple Street) this Thursday (11/10) at 3:30 pm.
No need for advance tickets, just show up at Vineapple on Thursday. Bring a blanket for your child to sit on and some shakers so they can play along. There’s a $15 suggested donation.
Halloween at Pierrepont Playground
Our man in the NYS Senate Daniel Squadron handed out candy (aka Squadron Bars) to costumed kids at yesterday’s Pierrepont Playground Halloween Parade. Brooklyn Beep Marty Markowitz was on hand as well. He amped up the crowd by mentioning Travel + Leisure Magazine had named the Heights one of America’s Most Beautiful Neighborhoods. He also made sure to note that Brooklyn has been declared the coolest city in America by GQ Magazine. And that’s when some guy yelled out, “Secede now!” Ok, that was me.

Halloween Parade Rescheduled for Sunday
Because of predicted rain, the Brooklyn Heights Playground Committee has rescheduled the Halloween Parade from tomorrow to Sunday morning, October 30, at 10:00 a.m. Bring your kids in costume to the Pierrepont Playground Sunday morning for the parade.
Halloween Events in Brooklyn Heights
This coming pre-Halloween weekend will be a busy one for the neighborhood. The Junior Committee of the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy will host the second annual All Hallows Bash Saturday evening, October 29, from 8:00 to 1:00 a.m., at One Brooklyn Bridge Park (360 Furman Street). This year’s theme is “Heroes and Villains”; there will be prizes for the best costumes. You must be 21 or older to attend. There’s more information here, and you can buy tickets ($50 in advance; $60 at the door) here. There’s also the Kids’ Halloween Parade Saturday morning, and, of course, the Howl-O-Ween Parade Sunday afternoon.
BHA Hosts Public Discussion on Child Safety Next Wednesday
The Brooklyn Heights Association, in conjunction with neighborhood parents, will present a discussion on child safety in Brooklyn Heights next Wednesday evening, October 26, from 7:00 to 8:30, at St. Francis College, 180 Remsen Street (between Clinton and Court), in the first floor student cafeteria.
The purpose of this meeting is to engage parents of school age children in a relaxed dialogue with specialized officers from the 84th Precinct. Continue Reading →

The annual Harvest Festival, presented by the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy in partnership with Brooklyn Bridge Park will be held on Pier 6, near the foot of Atlantic Avenue, on Saturday, October 22, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
