    I’m going to guess – doing a little math – that Claude has included at least 300 photos for this column alone over the years…. I’ve just finished a “photo book” of a recent trip I took, and would be happy to do the same for, say, his choice of the 50 best in this “series.”

    I imagine it would function like some organizations’ cookbooks or calendars – raising some funds (FOR BHB), but almost equally important, “cementing” the community and providing a great “stocking-stuffer” … if one’s stockings run to XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXL.

    Consider this an idea “run up the flagpole.” I won’t be hurt – sniff – if no one salutes!

    The photo about sums up this time of year – always the worst weather month of the year – not as cold as January, but somehow gloomier, grayer and grimier (not a dig on Claude’s photojournalism though!). Hopefully an early spring will be in the offing.

    Just the semi-regular reminder that the Little Lending Library at Grace Court Alley and Hicks could use a refill.

    Fun fact: it’s not really a library, i.e, no need to return the books you take. But do try – in the grand scheme of life – to leave as many books as you take. :-)

    Heights adjacent news. The Apollo diner at Smith and Livingston closed. Not recently, maybe two months ago but was an institution. Losing all our traditional NYC diners alas. I will miss them, going the way of the automat I guess.

    Has anyone tried to get a free Covid-19 test from the Brooklyn Public Library lately? I’m curious if they’re still giving them out for free (sort of doubt it, but you never know).

    Does anyone know what’s going on with the south side of the Bossert? It looks like there’s a permanent rave being held in a number of the rooms.

    Fire alarm flashing. In a building under renovation, this can have a number of causes: system malfunction, no electricity, or construction dust on the sensor.

    In the end, it shows that the building is not being cared for. last I heard there are residents living there and this requires a functional fire alarm system. What a mess. Makes you almost miss the JWs. They took care of their buildings.

    Thanks, that makes sense. It’s been like this for many months. Clearly not much attention is being paid to this building. I was a little hopeful when the renovations began, but things seem to be stalled. A shame!
