We have a winner! And a “Nero Wolfe” or Miss Marple to boot, spotting the “smoking gun.”

It’s Apt. 34B. YES, it is a 4BR, as Karl guessed, but “yours” for a mere $4.7 (million.)

Gives new meaning (or less meaning) to “a million dollar view!” My fav. slide below:

Not sure if construction is all done – more and more of the “shed” keeps getting removed. There are (book) SHELVES visible now in the new library space. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/9d87d024ceb5e5ae5294cbf3c84de3ce93b369a4f1ab3fc34178bcd8ddbe4cdc.jpg

So I can watch myself, where are you monitoring the data?

  • BH Mike

Always a mask crybaby. Like telling people what to do such as wearing a mask. Worry about yourself and not tell others what to do. You’re probably one of those people whose wife/partner uses birth control put you still wear two condoms so you can have protection for your protection.

  • Jorale-man

What can I say? I’ll take “mask crybaby” over being a Russian bot who constantly trolls people on neighborhood blogs.

  • BH Mike

    That’s pretty funny.

  • CassieVonMontague

For comparison, the cheapest one bedroom in the neighborhood on Streeteasy right now is a fourth-floor walkup for $2400/mo and the kitchen looks like this: https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/0b40a124ac6ca2b0605dfd878c75dee70c74c44a11c54cfad485f2bc8778482d.jpg

My rear end is too large for this kitchen.

That is not a legal kitchen.

  • Effective Presenter

Y’all can open up an oven door in that narrow kitchen?

  • Jack Bravo

You have actually justified all the attributes in a practical way. Each of your plans are accpetable and highly important.

Wow. Looks like the tRump’ite hoard has a disciple here. What a loathsome response. Yuck.

Doubtful. It’s likely the result of an illegal renovation. It probably was a studio they partitioned to create a “one bedroom”. I’ve seen a lot of this kind of chcainery by unscrupulous landlords and realtors.
A savy Tennant could move in there and stop paying rent as it is difficult to evict someone from an apartment that is not legal to rent.

Didn’t actually talk to anyone; just left a message.

However, yesterday I talked to 2 police on the street; they were aware of the guy. Their suggestion: complain to the 84th Precinct (whose phone number, btw, is 718-875-6850).

So I will do that, and I suggest others do as well.

Searched on Google for photos, finally found them right here on the BHB, from 2008:

They’ve been slowly repaving the sidewalk in front of the building, in sections. I’m really over walking on the uneven street surface on the Cadman Plaza side.

  • Andrew Porter

Where is this? Might be good to report this to DOB.

  • Andrew Porter

As I’ve reported before, supposedly end of April, but don’t hold your breath.

And now I have another request for my neighbors who know everything!! I have 40-50 VHS tapes and want to responsibly dispose them. However, I have yet to find a place that accepts VHS tapes. I have a car and am willing to drive a reasonable distance. Are there nearby places that will take them?

Looks like the map of recent hotspots corresponds to wealthy areas of city (brownstone Brooklyn belt, UES, Tribeca). Might it be that some folks returned from their late February ski or beach winter holidays and brought back COVID as a souvenir?

  • Andrew Porter

You could just leave them in a box on your stoop/in front of your place with sign “Free!” and let passers-by have them.

    Or check with local thrifts.

Think you may have – via this link – the wrong one. For me what came up was

Brooklyn New York Historical Map. Actually, let me be a good neighbor: Google told me “you meant”

GREAT COMPILATION, b.t.w. Thanks for doing AND posting.

I’ve often wondered about what I think are “bad ideas” like this. When one is dealing with a “bad actor” (landlord), would he/they shy away from changing the lock on your apt. a month or 2 into “your” non-payment of rent. The NYTimes quotes “real lawyers” when people are at odds with their landlords. What I’ve gathered is that “withholding rent” CAN be done … but probably ONLY AFTER one has consulted an att’y or done a lot of reading. (And I think the “by the book” way results in your withheld monies going “the man’s” way after he/they “cures” the defect.)

The NYC-specific coffee shop chain Blank Street will be opening up a location in Brooklyn Heights at 147 Montague Street. Here is some information on their brand, if you’re on social:

Woohoo *great news* — they have really good cold brew.

  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7nPOzGeyaw Arch Stanton

It wasn’t meant as serious advice, more of a tongue in cheek warning to would be “slumlords”.

  • nomcebo manzini

Not that I should talk, but your post about how you dealt with the neighborhood Nazi way back when (not that long ago) certainly echoes the guy shooting homeless people as they slept outdoors.

Slumlords probably have a good sense as to what they can get away with. Ordinary citizens are prone to leaping from “That’s so unfair” to “Maybe, I can get back at him/them.” If only…..

Apparently Clover Hill is starting a 7-course tasting menu dinner service this Friday https://blog.resy.com/2022/03/everything-you-need-to-know-about-clover-hill-in-brooklyn-heights/

Not seeing how you are making the connection to the shootings but I doubt it’s J.S. He’s (like most of theses Neo nazi types) is a timid wuss at heart.
