A new and lovely French bakery will be opening up soon by a couple living in Cobble Hill. The bakery began out of their apartment and picked up steam during the pandemic. The business is called L’Appartement 4F:

They will be located at 115 Montague Street – the former space of Emack and Bolio’s Ice Cream.

Another old photo of BH. Not sure if I already posted this: 1965 photo of Pier 1 and the Brooklyn Bridge, with a billboard for Schaefer Beer. “When you’re having more than one!”

The one beer to have when you’re having more than one, went the jingle. I can still sing part of it,but I can do the entire Rheingold jingle. I can’t recall ever drinking either one. Baseball fans know this stuff.

    Rick,
Old baseball Met fans like me and Claude. Good Bless Ralph, Murph, and Lindsey. Kiner’s Corner lives on.

  • OoLaLa

I’m SO excited about this. But also curious how they’re affording the exorbitant rent on Montague St.

The fatality at the Clark St Station Monday
Night comes at the end of a long round of platform disorders featuring numerous incidents of threatening behavior including threats to push others on the tracks. This along with indecent exposure, thrown objects and seeming endless other forms of incidents None of which should be happening. Legitimate transit patrons and TA employees have endless ly complained and summoned police. Now the worst has happened. Was this an accident or…well given the recent history of the station…what really happened? Was the decedent a rider or one of the scores of EDP’s or homeless‽ Was one of the many hiding spaces used by “non patrion” somehow involved‽ BIG questions for the safety of the Heights….

Or as we said back in my college days, “the one beer to have when you’ve had more than one.”

  • Andrew Porter

Uh, wasn’t there a comment here about a new French bakery opening on Montague Street? Or am I having a false memory?

  • Bornhere

My dad’s political life took him to many places with many people of unique (or debatable) merit, Only once did I ask him and my mom to bring home autographs. This was the time. And I bet it was “a perfect day for baseball.” https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/cd4954daaea7a58400a27002adfa9049abca3c07aadf0702b94ee5e2cedc33cf.jpg

  • Angela De Marco

yes there was in the space vacated by Emilio and Bollio

  • Jorale-man

Wonder what happened to the comment? As far as I can tell it was accurate. I just saw an Instagram post about the new bakery yesterday.

I noticed the page on the fireworks had several deleted comments, though those were mostly from angry anti-maskers.

  • karateca2000

I spoke to the new owner on Tuesday when I noticed that they were cleaning the old logo from the window.

This is what I know: yes, it will be a bakery, but they don’t know when they will open since they just signed the lease this week. The baker is french, so expect croissants and everything!

Helicopters flying overhead. Like roaches they are today.

  • CassieVonMontague

One buzzing the neighborhood today had the Domino’s Pizza logo on the underside, as if anyone in the neighborhood would eat that garbage.

  • CassieVonMontague

Here’s the flightpath of a sightseeing helicopter that buzzes our neighborhood TWICE every hour.

Someone flagged them as spam, which made our (my) responses weirdly de-contextualized.

Because tourism would plummet if this frivolous nonsense went away…

  • streeter

In full force at 5:45AM today.

  • JaneonOrange

I am so naive. I always assume it is a police helicopter as I thought we DEALT with this already. Just ridiculous.

As usual, my suggestion for barrage balloons never gets any traction. Here’s one keeping low-flying German tourists away from central London, WW2:

I was referring to the same person as Jorale-man. This person’s ignorant-sounding comments on the fireworks post were flagged and removed.

  • Red Leader

I’m right there with you. Thought they were dealt with as well!

  • Effective Presenter

    You may be surprised:

    Domino’s is cheap;;

Domino’s is open late until 2am for deliveries – when you get home from work at 11:30pm most other places are shutting down NO deliveries at that hour.

    Domino’s is what it is.

  • Effective Presenter

Posting an insult like “ignorant sounding comments” may exacerbate the situation of flagging posts

  • Effective Presenter

    You ARE showing your age!

They don’t write jingles like that these days…..

  • Remsen Street Dweller

I can’t wait for NYC elections to end! Candidate’s reps & their mothers (yes, their mothers!) ring my bell all hrs, mail 20 pamphlets a day, call incessantly

    Go on then

  • Andrew Porter

Me too. People ringing my doorbell, and the flyers go right into recycling. Zillions of ads on TV.

And I have the answering machine on all the time.
