BHA Invites You to Spring into Service and to Fight Helicopter Noise

This Sunday, April 18 the Brooklyn Heights Association will hold its “Spring into Service” event, combining fun with community service and charity. Gather at the Clark Street entrance to the Promenade at 10:00 AM, “wear your best florals, paisley prints and bonnets! Get a bag & gloves from the BHA to collect trash. Kids will receive a small plantable gift.” If you’ve just had a visit from Marie Kondo and want to donate some books for ages 0-12 in good condition to Brooklyn Book Bodega, there will be a collection table near the Pierrepont Playground where you may leave them. At that same table, you may donate:

• Diapers (opened packs are okay)
• New/unopened wipes
• New/unopened infant hygiene items like shampoo, soap, etc.
• Spring/summer clothing and shoes (please no winter coats, boots, etc.)
• Strollers, Car Seats (only those manufactured 2015 or later.)

to Little Essentials.

The BHA also reminds us that tomorrow – Wednesday, April 14 – “is the deadline for submitting comments to the the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regarding its Neighborhood Environmental Survey (“NES”) on civil aircraft noise. This is your chance to appeal to the FAA concerning the noise created by tourist helicopter flights and commuter flights from Manhattan to JFK or the Hamptons that so often disturb us here or in Brooklyn Bridge Park. The BHA says, “We urge you to submit your comments in your own words expressing your personal experiences.” They’ve provided a link to useful information you can use in preparing your comment.

Here’s the link to submit your comments to the FAA.
