Joe Coffee will open a store at 102 Hicks Street, corner of Pineapple, former location of Purrfect Paws. NY Post story here:

I wonder how this will affect Vineapple, just down the street?

  • Andrew Porter

Hey, Wednesday brings more BH postcards. Here’s another Bossert postcard:

Sales have just launched at the new building replacing the Heights Cinema. Article on Curbed with pretty photos—who knew there were so many trees outside—is here:

Really loud. Haven’t heard anything today, so maybe they’re using the Presidential submarine instead?

How about some context to your link? It’s a bar at 60 Henry Street. Yelp reviews here:

Gothamist has a post with a photo gallery of the whirlpool installation.

I haven’t seen this in person yet so I can’t weigh in on its merits but one does get the sense that any public art these days isn’t successful unless it’s made for social media sharing.

Ya know, you don’t have to eat it where you buy it. There is a very pretty park about a block to the east.

  • Slyone

I’m not a cyclist (most often down there, I’m a runner), but I thought the path through the park was planned as a part of the Brooklyn Greenway/bikeway – so that people could bike down the waterfront. Seems like there should be an effort to accommodate both uses.

  • JaneonOrange

Uh I know. The point was a national publication reviewed it. Sorry I thought the link provided the context.

POTUS Just landed about a half hour ago… Saw it from BBP.

  • Rick

I love these. Thank you for posting!

Nice shot. Walking up it yesterday I was stunned by how close it is to several windows of the Pierhouse complex. Those residents (or hotel guests) will basically have a steady stream of people right outside their bedrooms and living rooms, including after movie screenings, basketball games, concerts, and everything else that takes place around Piers 1 & 2. Then again, many others will just look at the BQE, and all that entails.

  • StudioBrooklyn

Normally that would be fine but the New Yorker is one of many publications whose website has a paywall, so a TL;DR blurb might have been apropos for those whose subscriptions have lapsed. :)

  • StudioBrooklyn

To be clear, he was departing after his meeting with the Australian PM aboard the Intrepid, not arriving. Not that it really matters.

  • Diesel

The Speech on the Intrepid was at 7pm the helicopter landings were an hour before… Im working on the time thing, WOOF.

  • Cranberry Beret

I think Vineapple will be fine — it’s a place to work, linger or both. The new place is a growing chain, I’d have to think their model requires a stronger focus on the bottom line and that means volume, not lingering. Not much volume at Hicks & Pineapple! Odd choice.

  • GP

    Just an FYI.

  • Andrew Porter

The landlord of the Alfred White Houses is at it again, Gothamist reports. This fight over replacing the courtyard with a garage has been going on for a Long Time:

What’s moving into the Aerosoles and the Ricky’s?

  • redlola

i live in bk heights and work in dumbo. bk heights is a lot busier. the employees in dumbo simply to not have a customer service mindset.

  • redlola

its for the tourists and park visitors bouncing their way across the bridge to BBP.
