    REMINDER !!!
TOGETHER WE CAN SAVE THE BROOKLYN HEIGHTS LIBRARY. Libraries are one of the pillars of a free and open society. For countless years, people have relied on the information and public space provided by libraries to grow as individuals and as a community. Now, the government has plans to deprive us of this opportunity. Join us in the fight to save by coming to our Fundraiser making a donation. Every contribution makes a difference! http://www.lovebrooklynlibrariesinc.o...
    Fall Fundraiser
    Sunday, October 23rd
    Location:
    James Weir Florist
    6PM-9PM
155 Montague Street Brooklyn, NY 11201

The redevelopment will include new space for the library. While the new library and condo tower is being constructed, an interim library will be set up at Our Lady of Lebanon Church on nearby Remsen Street. So the library will be saved.

The new building will have a library, so what exactly is your complaint? Is the new library smaller? Will it have fewer resources?

The Alamo Drafthouse on Fulton opens on October 28:
    https://drafthouse.com/nyc
and more here from the NY Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/19/movies/alamo-drafthouse-brooklyn-opening.html
To someone like me who still mourns the loss of the Brooklyn Heights Cinema and who doesn’t like dealing with the chatty patrons of the Regal/UA on Court Street, this is great news. The Alamo Drafthouse chain has a no talking/texting policy that is strictly enforced (or so they claim).
The selection of films for opening week are a bit esoteric, but they’ll also be playing the regular new release titles.

yes and yes. also, NYC no longer owns it.

  • Reggie

The area accessible by the public is only slightly smaller than in the facility being replace. Fewer resources how? And ownership of the library will go back to the City as a condo unit.

I have this information from multiple sources. If you want to refute it, please try to do so with some factual information. The gist of my post was to refute Ms. Swartz’s crap about “saving the library.”

  • DIBS

    Citation please.

  • Sue

    Yes your facts are wrong

  • DIBS

Do you have any to refute them?? Apparently not. All you seem to be able to post is “Wrong.” SMH

Kogane…I like it okay but it’s not nearly as good as Ganso on Bond near Livingston.

By the way I spotted a Bentley on Henry recently and wondered if you were the driver, thought of saying hi. NY plates? Did I have the wrong guy?
