Ceremony to Commemorate Heights’ National Historic Landmark Status at BHS

We’ve been advised by the Brooklyn Heights Association that, on Friday morning, October 23 at 11:00 in front of the Brooklyn Historical Society, 128 Pierrepont Street (corner of Clinton), there will be a ceremony to rededicate the plaque commemorating the Heights’ status, since 1965, as a National Historic Landmark District (the BHS building, pictured, is separately designated as a National Historic Landmark). U.S. Rep. Nydia Velazquez will attend the ceremony, as will a representative of the National Park Service and other dignitaries. Immediately after the ceremony the acclaimed architectural historian and Brooklyn resident Francis Morrone (An Architectural Guidebook to Brooklyn and other books) will lead a tour of the neighborhood. It’s all free.
