I just posted a couple dozen photos from around the Heights on TrillionaireVintage.com. Feel free to check them out ; ))

I’m happy to see that we are in general agreement on the basic issues. There is no doubt that LICH was a huge loss for our community. The loss of the view from the promenade, and the grotesque development near pier 1 is a huge loss for everyone who lives in or visits the Heights.
Mayor de Blasio and Governor Cuomo are both huge disappointments. Fighting the real estate stranglehold on local government is going to require strong action. The amount of money involved is too great to have it any other way. We are lucky that there is a new federal investigation underway into de Blasio’s fundraising and maybe something will come of that, but I’m convinced that in the short and long run it will be up to us to put an end to this insanity.

Help! I have a major kitchen plumbing leak and the only plumber I know in the area is Weiss, and they’re not answering the phone. Any recommendations?

As someone who marched and protested to try to save LICH, I fully support the Verizon workers who are on strike! If you agree, sign up at http://www.standuptoverizon.com. They are getting a raw deal from the corporation and so are we — our Verizon home phone service is miserable and we lack FIOS because of the company. I’ve spoke to several repair people that come to my building to try to fix the antiquated phone equipment that Verizon won’t update. Why do you think we don’t have FIOS?

More denizenry. I give these little guys a lot of credit: they’ve got grit. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/3bf98b28e76104068e7912dd4a7d77f7d74384ea7f477db131998b96f85e3303.jpg

A liberal, no doubt. Always the first with the ad hominems.

  • DIBS

    You ever been there?

  • AEB

As opposed to jumping immediately to distinctions based on alleged political differences….

  • DIBS

I knew someone would take the bait. You and Moni friends?

  • AEB

You forfeit nothing by being wrong when you are. You only imagine you do.

  • ColumbiaHeightster

Yes, many times. I’ll ask again, what’s your objection?

Let me rephrase, I see construction workers there almost every day. That does not mean they are not present when I don’t see them.
I am a professional in the construction industry. One thing I can tell you, it is hard to make assumptions on what is or isn’t going on without knowing the scope and complications of the project.
And one thing I do know about the building is the Jo-Ho’s did an extensive renovation of the building inside and out, after they acquired it in the early eighties. As they do impeccable work, and they used the Bossert as a Hotel, it may not need a massive amount of reconfiguration.

    More importantly; Pat’s or Gino’s?

  • Remsen Street Dweller

Your references to liberals are tiresome.

I asked them where the giant inflatable rat was, and they said he was working somewhere else.

I used to have a printer in Ephrata, spent a lot of time out there and in Lancaster, Penna. When the Amish spread their fertilizer in the spring, you can Really Smell it!

Philadelphia has all the wonderful food stores in the Reading Terminal Market. It’s a wonderful destination all by itself.

I constantly see people throwing coins into the fountain at the corner of Henry and Joralemon. Don’t they know that poisons the fish?

Lillian Meredith is the new Executive Assistant at the BHA. I’ve suggested hat Peter Bray do up a press release about her, but have seen nothing yet. She will be replacing Irene Janner, who is still coming in on a part-time basis to do the books, as she slowly slips into retirement.
