Fireworks Tomorrow Night

There will be a fireworks display tomorrow (Sunday, October 4) starting at 7:00 p.m. in the East River near Pier 16, which is directly opposite Brooklyn Heights. We have this from Notify NYC but it is not included in the list of legal fireworks displays approved by FDNY. We’re guessing it’s the display scheduled for September 13, also a Sunday, at the same location, sponsored by the Kamal Daga Indo America Festival, which may have been re-scheduled.

Just to let everyone know that if the sky is clear, the ISS will be visible in the south-southwestern sky (from the promenade, in the sky above One Brooklyn/Red Hook) at 7:23pm tonight. Here’s the scoop I got from Nasa:

Visible: 5 min, Max Height: 42 degrees, Appears: SSW, Disappears: ENE

After the fireworks there was a helicopter circle the neighborhood for a good half-hour at least. Rather annoying. Oh well, at least we have speed bumps now. You win some, you lose some.

Where did they put speed bumps?

Complete presentation is at the link below. For a map of proposed speed bumps and street signs see slide 17.
