Same here – agree. So tired of the same old development, helicopter (when about nonsensical ‘threats’), and complaints about ps 8.

  • MonroeOrange

or i’m a person that uses words that actually exist and not internet slang. Enjoy your time share with WSW!

  • DIBS

    LOL. STFU and GTFOH.

  • DIBS

I also think you are either too senile or just too dense to understand that I was basically telling WSW the same thing I just told you, below…

  • Willow Street Watch

    That’s really a funny idea…

But I would stock it with rockabilly records and some drag slicks.

  • Willow Street Watch

Hello, homeland security? We’re picking up some coded communications here in 11201, please send your surveillance
    craft ASAP!

  • Jorale-man

Agreed. I’m curious what’s happening with some of the empty storefronts in the area – Siggy’s, the former Andy’s space, the former Grand Canyon space. Any chance Friend of a Farmer might up the restaurant game on Montague a bit?

  • Willow Street Watch

I get it..raise substantial issues and you’re a bad, dwell on fluff and you’re a good person. This when the Heights is under the level of
“Changes” it is dwell on ice cream…..

The Osprey has replaced the CH-46 as the support birds for VIP arrivals at Wall Street Heliport. Brooklyn Heights looks very nice from one, as seen here when I s̶n̶u̶c̶k̶ ̶a̶b̶o̶a̶r̶d̶ was invited to fly with the Marines during Fleet Week a couple years ago. They’re not the U-2; you see ’em and they know you can see ’em. Meanwhile, NYPD Aviation routinely does “directed patrols” of both high-crime and high-profile locations, at all hours. This may be a street crime-prone precinct, or a location that’s had stuff like blatant flag-swapping trespassers (i.e. the Brooklyn Bridge.) The Harbor Unit is out there doing the same thing—look for the pretty blue lights—but they’re necessarily quieter, and can’t see what’s going on on top of the towers.

All I can say is “Don’t Feed the Trolls”

  • Willow Street Watch

All of that is, as far as I understand, true. But what we have is first helicopters doing ecliptical flights and..many times take up stationary posts sometimes for over an hour. Try to sleep.
We also have fixed wing low level slow overflights. The #%&@ ospreys have also assumed fixed posts but for much shorter periods. The RF down links are on FEDERAL frequencies, and there is evidence that RF tomography is present. NONE of this is explained (or justified) by any criminal activity or any standard need.

I remember it well, took a bunch of photos, you can see them here:

You must stay up all night researching these aircraft. Seems like it gives you something to do other than ranting here!!!

  • MaryT

Wow. Great photos. I moved here in December 1995, when the St. George was still partly SRO or abandoned. Took many years for that part to be rehabilitated. The rumor I heard at the time is that it was intentionally set. True or false?

    Siggy – Asian noodle shop

Grand Canyon – high end burgers

…sorry, may not be new news…

By the way, I am glad the ice cream shop opened. But just to be 100% honest” it ain’t that great. Small portions like hagen daaz and the taste was kind of like low end Ben and jerrys. Wish it were a so-Co creamery…

  • StudioBrooklyn

And I was all ready to post a small rant about de Blasio and boobs. I guess I’ll shelve it. Have a great weekend everyone! Xo

Anyone hear what the jets sounded like today at about 10:45 AM? It must have been the F-22. One thing the Raptor is not, its not SOUND stealty.

  • ColumbiaHeightster

    No

  • outasight

Yes, saw them from the window. Very loud, which is what brought them to my attention.

  • Eddyde

As far as I know it is true.
The official story: A scrapper admitted setting it accidentally with a blowtorch, while trying to remove pipes from the building. He did a year in prison.
The unofficial story, as told to me directly by “the man” in charge of nefarious activities in the neighborhood: The scrapper was paid $50k to admit to the crime. Someone else, a professional, started the fire. Reason; cheap way to demolish the building and collect insurance.

  • miriamcb

I think Go Burger in the Grand Canyon spot. I’m also wondering what people think about the Urgent Care signs up in the old Crumbs shop.

  • Andrew Porter

I was in Glasgow, Scotland at the time, read about in the International Herald Tribune. Had to wait 5 hours, because of the time difference, to find out if my building was still okay. An unnerving wait. But everything was okay.

And here’s an image from that day:

  • Sean

My girlfriend and I recently moved into Brooklyn Heights. We absolutely love the neighborhood, but we keep hearing this curious noise several times throughout the day that we cannot figure out the origin of (and no, it’s not the helicopters). It’s not bothersome or annoying in any way, but simply perplexing. I hope someone in the BH community will be able to help identify it and quell our curiosity.

The best I can describe the sound is a two-toned beep. It goes from a high-pitch to low-pitch tone, with each tone lasting only about a half second. I can’t discern any pattern of when it goes off. It’s loud enough to be heard from every window of our apartment. We have our own theories of what this is, but I’m hoping someone can shed light on the source of this sound.

  • ShinyNewHandle

A bird on your roof? (If all politics is local, all weird neighborhood sounds are hyperlocal.)

  • Moni

    Ugh is right. What bores!

  • Moni

I hate to agree with DIBS,but it really is time to STFU about this.
