I just noticed that all of the lights on the Atlantic Ave. side of LICH are out. Looks a little apocalyptic for a large hospital building to be dark like that.

COMMUNITY ALERT!!! TONIGHT is the CRITICAL Community Board meeting and likely pivotal vote on the plan to sell the library building are erect the 38+ floor Hudson company tower.

The meeting starts at 6:00 PM at St Francis 180 Remsen St (bet Clinton and Court St.. But concerned Heights residents are advised that demonstrations, literature distribution and press coverage will probably start at 5:00 PM. Heights residents are urged to call as many press out
lets as possible urging the press to attend. The more calls the better.
If you wish make a statement to the board our just to the assembled press and public, WRITE up the statement besides any verbal statement. provide to the board with an unmistakable written statement. AND have enough extra copies to fully blanket the press.

This is an emergency and everybody needs to help! Public displays of concern matters now. So do Literature handouts, calls to the media, transport to the site. No one is expected to do everything, but everyone can do something!!!

I see there’s a new business opening in the former clothing store (J. Peterman?) on Hicks Street near Montague. Does anyone know what it is?

Unrelated: there’s finally some grass growing on the east side of the berm in BB Park. Who would have thunk it?

Wasn’t the footbridge supposed to be finished in May sometime? It is July and I haven’t seen anyone even starting to work on it…

  • gatornyc

It will be part of the new school (AltSchool) opening on the second floor of the building.

Anyone else see the cruise ship sitting in the Hudson last night around 9:00pm? Looked like it was experiencing an issue, but then eventually went on its way. (There were police boats and helicopters surrounding it and it had its search lights on for a little while).

  • GHB

Not grass, but wildflowers and weeds. I hope they keep them because the berm looks much nicer in green than it does in brown!

Monday night there were helicoptors flying overhead in the North heights for what seemed to be all night long. Felt like a warzone.

  • DIBS

Thanks. I’ll write in support of the plan. Get on with it.

  • Karl Junkersfeld

I inquired about the cost for a first grade student and was told around $28,000.

  • Karl Junkersfeld

Yes, thanks for the heads up. I’ll go so I can support the plan with DIBS.

COMMUNITY ALERT: I have a good contact who works at Floyd Bennet field where the police helio are based. He know all about the Helios both circling and being on stationary post after midnight. He says those are units from Federal agencies and they are monitoring the downtown area for any heavy particle (radiation) emissions. He says the feds are very
concerned a device in the BH area would devastate lower Manhattan.
This is the second good source which has come forward with this infor-
nation. The federal theory is that anyone wishing to place a device would do so at a time of least visibility and just outside the much higher security of downtown Manhattan.

Meanwhile has anyone noticed the level of security at the R station exit under Clinton/Montague?…SEVENTEEN to EIGHTEEN new cameras being installed in a very small mezzanine? But what of some of the “cameras” are something else? Like remote frisk or rad detectors?

  • DIBS

There are rad detectors throughout NYC but primarily Manhattan.

Winds are generally out of the west which would make NJ a better spot.

  • RJG

Operation Jade Helm 15 started today. Wonder who’s keeping an eye on Willow Street?

  • Jorale-man

I think people will take anything they can get at this point. It will be interesting to see if they approach the next phase of the berm (by Pier 5) any differently.

  • william gilbert

You would, however I don’t know if the opinion of residents of Bucks County count for much here.

I think the vegetation is supposed to mimic what was native to the area, you know before whitey came here and mucked it all up.

Nice photo shop. It looks like commando Cody’s rocket in the classic republic pictures serials.

Actuially, two major dailys have done first line features on JH. They found that “Jade” is a predictive software the army is evaluating.

Important: WSW please reline your beanie with a double layer of aluminum foil immediately. The government has sent out micro-bots to laser drill holes in your current liner so the thought reading/control waves can penetrate. Be sure to reline twice daily.

Important: a little more professional level of behavior would be a help. So would a slightly higher level of knowledge. Er, you COULD visit http://www.jadeworld.com and learn about object oriented program-
ming software. Or you just continue throwing rocks at the more knowledable and foward thinking

    Very typical casino nonsense…

Mr. Guterman’s group is still in court. They’ll lose again, as they should.

Agree, I like Chrome for broad searches and shopping. I believe Microsoft’s IE will be gone by the end of this month when the new Windows comes out. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s new.

  • StudioBrooklyn

Thanks for being a good sport. I was really just being snarky about your screen grab. :)

  • Hickster

Anyone know the store with construction at 27 Cranberry? (Sorry if this has been discussed in recent past and I missed it.) Seems like construction ground to a standstill a good while back, after they dug that super deep foundation.

  • Andrew Porter

Rodan! Rodan is here! Run for your lives!!!

    Oh, a pigeon. Never mind.

  • Andrew Porter

They should just seed that side with kudzu and be done with it.

All fixed now (scene from “Metropolis”):
