The Eagle reports that, at the recent meeting of the 84th Precinct Community Council, the 84th’s new skipper, Captain Sergio Centa, was welcomed back to the area. Capt. Centa had previously worked at the 84th for six months, starting in 2011. He replaces Capt. Maximo Tolentino, who led the 84th since 2012, and who has been transferred to command the 73rd Precinct.
At the Community Council meeting, Capt. Centa presented Cop of the Month awards to officers Thomas Murray and Leonard Clarke. Capt. Centa noted that there has been a slight increase in crime in the precinct’s area, three percent over the previous year. Most of this increase was accounted for by thefts of autos, motorcycles, and scooters, with scooters being popular targets, especially in DUMBO.
