Tomorrow (Saturday, September 13) from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. there will be a kite festival on the Harbor View Lawn, Pier 1, Brooklyn Bridge Park. The event is free; you may bring your own kite, or they will be available for purchase. The forecast calls for rain in the afternoon, so best to arrive early. More information here. Other events in the Park over the weekend include Baylander tours, a docent tour of Pier 1 on Sunday, and, also on Sunday, Smorgasburg will be on the Pier 2 uplands.
On Saturday and Sunday at 8:00 p.m. Bargemusic will present works by Mozart, Schubert, and Franck, performed by Mark Peskanov on violin and Rita Sloan on piano. There’s more information and buy tickets here. Saturday afternoon at 4:00 there will be a free, family oriented “Music in Motion” concert. Doors open at 3:45; first come, first seated.

On Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and the following Tuesday through Thursday from noon to 3:00 p.m. you may view “In the Beginning,” an exhibit of ink wash paintings by Athena LaTocha, at St. Ann & the Holy Trinity Church, Montague and Clinton Streets. The artist will be present for a talk the following Sunday, September 28 at 2:00 p.m., with a reception to follow.
