This is an odd post, but I have some unopened distilled water and aquarium salt that I am trying to get rid of…if anyone has a saltwater fish tank and wants this stuff, shoot me an email at eligmavros AT gmail.com.

Your mentioning salt water tank reminds me of a few years back when I was the proud owner of one of the top reef tanks in NYC. UNfortunately, while on vacation in North Carolina the tank crashed despite valiant efforts by my neighbor to resurrect it. Broke my heart. Thousands of dollars wasted along with tons of time. Nice touch that you use purified water. I filtered it and used pads and ozone to purify. Here is a picture. The reef was a beauty. At least my cat thought so. hehe

A very grateful hats-off to the volunteer ladies and gents who planted the beautiful gardens along the promenade this Spring. A magnificent job, best ever this year IMHO, makes my day each time I walk by!

It’s funny, there was no announcement about this (at least nothing I can find online) but I heard on NPR this morning that there is a band playing tonight to celebrate the opening. Sure enough a stage is built on the green this a.m. Will anyone show?

The pier is open for the Brooklyn Half Marathon pre-party. Over 20,000 runners. Bands there tonight, tomorrow and Friday. The rest of the pier is closed though, just the tent area in the back is open.

    Ah, thanks!

    Hey everyone,
My name is Jake and I’ve used the same male babysitter (Philip) several times when our main nanny is going away for a few hours every weekend or spare tuesday etc. He is excellent. I have three kids, and two of them have Autism. Philip is partially trained in ABA therapy for kids with autism. He is 17 years old, and a Junior at a local private high school. Sadly my work is moving me out of NYC, but I am trying to find Philip more babysitting jobs because he has been so excellent with our kids. He lives in Brooklyn Heights and is comfortable with travel. Please feel free to contact me or Philip directly at phil.fields25@gmail.com.

    Thanks so much!

Thanks CHatter – we enjoy the gardening and the fruits it bears. Salt of the earth group. We meet Tuesdays at 9 on the lawn behind the playground if anyone out there would like to join in

Call the Brooklyn Autism Center. They may be able to refer him to some of their families.

Does anyone know what retail is going in to 101 Clinton (at Joralemon)?

  • Chubby Burkhardt

I heard the Rite Aid is going there but I have nothing to prove that to be true.

  • miriamcb

It is RiteAid. The guys who are working on it have confirmed. I’ve heard that the RiteAid that is currently on the corner of Montague/Clinton is essentially moving to 101 Clinton. So, will another drugstore go in on Montague when RiteAid leaves?

The Gardens on the Promenade are wonderful, but there are three trees on the east side of Hicks just north of Pierrepont with signs affixed with metal wires—which are cutting into the slowly widening trunks, threatening to kill them. If I had a needle-nosed wire cutter, I’d take care of this in a moment. Anyone? Think I’ll call 311…
