Haagen Dazs Free Cone Day a Hit in Brooklyn Heights

Our Heather Quinlan snapped this pick of the long line yesterday afternoon at the Montague Haagen Dazs for Free Cone Day.

The Montague Street location is the world’s first Haagen Dazs store and has been open since November 15, 1976.

    Ah. memories: remember when Baskin Robbins was across the street, on the corner? Life was simple and then… Along came HD, with its pseudo Scandi name and never-before-experienced super dense ice cream. I’d forgotten how long ago they opened – now THAT’S a “survivor” story!

    And right next door, at the thrift store, you can get free condoms every day of the year. (Though I didn’t point that out to waiting parents and kids.)
