Madon a Mi – Mob Wives Star Big Ang Opens Nightclub Above Grimaldi’s

For those of you who have better things to do than watching Mob Wives on VH1, the fact that a woman from Staten Island named “Big Ang” is opening a nightclub above Grimaldi’s (1 Front Street) sounds only half-crazy.

Our pals at Gothamist describe what the Drunken Monkey (there’s another one in Staten Island) will be like:

The Brooklyn Drunken Monkey won’t be like anything else in the neighborhood, which skews more towards low-key wine bars than fist pumping clubs. The establishment scored a coveted cabaret license—a gift from a previous tenant—meaning the vibe could similar to the sister venue on SI of DJs, dancing and a whole lotta shots. In visiting the bar once a few years ago, Big Ang herself poured me a shot of “Jamo” while bros posted up and chugged Bud Light bottles.

The Daily News shines a light on her marketing strategy:

“I’m looking for the hipster crowd,” Angela (Big Ang) Raiola tells The News. “It’s a completely different crowd than Staten Island. It’s going to be the yuppies and the hipsters — the Dumbo crowd. I love them all.”

So, you think the bottle service and vokka (no D!) crowd will flock to this new establishment? Wasn’t there a nightclub at 1 Front before? Comment away!

Those lucky residents at the Eagle Warehouse only have to cross Old Fulton to get to the excitement. (sarcasm)

When I first tuned into this show I was sorely disappointed it wasn’t about Ang Lee.

I am so glad the BQE separates me from that drivel. Shake shack is one thing, but not this.

The hipster crowd seems to be in Williamsburg not Brooklyn Heights.
We’ll see what happens because that location seems to have luck.

    I meant bad luck.
