This year’s series of Celebrate Brooklyn! Bridge Dance Parties, held at Pier 1, Brooklyn Bridge Park, begins this Thursday, May 8 at 7:00 p.m. with a Gypsy Punk Dance Party featuring Balkan Beat Box (photo) and DJ Joro-Boro.
The parties continue on the two subsequent Thursdays. On May 15, there will be an Electro-Jamzz Dance Party, featuring Cibo Matto, along with Javelin and JD Samson. The final event, on May 22, will be an African dance Party featuring Sierra Leone’s Refugee All-Stars, with Okayafrica Electrafrique, featuring Chief Boima and DJ Underdog. This party begins with a dance lesson led by Iris Wilson, who is an instructor at Cumbe: Center for African and Diaspora Dance.
The dance parties are free, and are presented jointly by the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy and by BRIC.
