BHA Says Garbage Pickup Maybe Tomorrow Night; Wants to Know What’s Your Favorite Nabe Diner

The Brooklyn Heights Association has been told that there may be regular garbage (not recyclables) pickup tomorrow (Friday) night, and reminds us: “If your trash is buried under snow, please dig it out. If the men can’t see it or reach it, they’ll leave it.” Recyclables should be held back for now; we will be advised when they will be picked up.

The BHA also wants to know (but only if you’re a BHA member) what’s your favorite Brooklyn Heights diner, from among the following selections: Clark’s, Teresa’s, Park Plaza, Happy Days, and Grand Canyon. The winner will receive a “Peoples’ Award” at the BHA Annual Meeting on Thursday evening, February 27.

What is your favorite diner in the Heights? Where do you go for that convenient bite with your kids, with your parents? Who gives you good food, fast, and remembers you from the last time?

    On Tuesday evening, 311 directed people to put out garbage and recycle in spite of the impending storm! Big mistake!

    The Park Plaza, of course. Don’t know what’s more fun to watch in action–the patrons or the staff, especially compere Gary, who chats up the diners and then chats them up again. And the food is diner-good.

    Teresa’s is, not actually, a diner. In the strict NYC sense of the word it does not fit the definition. Plaza Diner and Clark’s and Happy Days and Grand Canyon are, but Teresa’s is not. It is a Polish restaurant, very good and not the most high class, but that does not make it a diner. If you transplants and recent arrivals want to call it such, so be it, but it is NOT a diner.

    Garbage picked up last night (Friday) and recycles today in North Heights. Truck working last night was staffed by two of the most cheerful Sanitation workers I’ve ever met…happily digging BH garbage out of icy snow and warning walkers to be careful. Thank you!
