Brooklyn Heights Association Annual Meeting Set For February 27, Digital Thought Leader Clay Shirky To Speak

The Brooklyn Heights Association will hold its annual meeting on February 27. The featured speaker will be author/digital thought leader/NYU professor/Brooklyn Heights area resident Clay Shirky.

Please join us for the BHA’s Annual Meeting scheduled for Thursday, February 27, at 7 PM at the Brooklyn Historical Society, 128 Pierrepont Street.

BHA President, Alexandra Bowie, will open the meeting with a report of BHA activities, followed by Tom Stewart with a presentation of BHA Awards for Community Service.

We are honored to have Clay Shirky as our guest speaker.

This meeting will be open to the public and all are welcome to attend. Reservations are not needed.

    During his talk Shirky acknowledged that there is a tremendous amount of information that simply isn’t available on the internet, especially anything that predates the internet. That’s what archivists and LIBRARIES are for said Mr. Shirky at the BHA annual meeting! . . . Then we cried out and held up our signed: “Don’t Sell Our Libraries!”

    But the BHA says it can’t support the call of de Blasio and the community to halt the Bloomberg plan to sell the libraries!
