City Bike Share just passed the 2 million trips mark.

Over 70,000 New Yorkers have signed up for the annual membership.

That is exactly TWC’s game. They hope nobody notices, especially with many people using automatic payments and not even looking at their bills, TWC bilks millions out of their “customers” (many of us don’t have a choice). I called them after noticing my bill was getting to the point of absurdity, apparently a “computer glitch” had added services I never requested. They did cut my bill back by over a third and gave me a couple of months of service to make up for their “mistake”, I added it all up and figured they still came out way ahead, as I had been overcharged for more than a year.

Fairway is a quick bike ride away in Red Hook. Invest in some good panniers and you can haul home a bunch of stuff at one time. If you’re doing a big, BIG trip, get a car service or rent a Zipcar. Otherwise Key Food on Montague works for most things. I live in DUMBO so I’m relegated to the tiny markets down there.. Peas & Pickles and Foragers. Lots of people in my area use FreshDirect too.

I wouldn’t describe this as an issue of the “super rich and powerful” vs. the people — rather as the inept state government vs. the people. There aren’t that many neighborhoods more “rich and powerful” than Brooklyn Heights and Cobble Hill, and those neighborhoods desperately want LICH to stay open, but SUNY was too wasteful and inept in its management to make LICH successful, so now they want to sell it as their cash cow. And our politicians (esp. Squadron and Levin) are great at making speeches, getting arrested, etc., but apparently not very good at actually getting anything done — whether it’s helicopters in BBP, keeping LICH open, or any other difficult issue.

    Agree about the light pollution.

I order from PeaPod.com, much cheaper than Freshdirect. Can’t stand Grosstides and Key Food.

LICH is privately run. And term limits aside, people voted for Bloomberg a third time. So when you say they ignore the voice of the people, you just mean they aren’t doing what you want them to.

This just in….Mr. Video III aka heights video on clark st. was the victim of an attempted robbery yesterday. A man held up (no weapon) the store as it opened yesterday, and made one of the new workers empty the cash into a bag. While in the process of the robbery, the owner of the store, Raf, happened to walk in while the robbery was in progress. The owner was able to thwart the crime, wrestling with the perp and pulling the bag of cash away from him. He then gave chase, but the perp escaped.

I think its important to remember what makes this such a great neighborhood, the people that made it that way. Raf (who grew up in BH), who i assume many of you know, is one of the reasons we have such a great community and i for one am glad he wasn’t hurt in the melee.

Three cheers for Mr. Video and thanks for helping keep our neighborhood safe!

But it’s important to remember what I want them to do is correct.

And good point…all the complainers DID vote for Bloomberg for a third time so I guess reap what you sow.

In another post, I suggested Doggie Diapers. This would obviously solve the problem and put the debate to rest once and for all. Doggie Diapers!

Can anyone recommend a family dentist in the ‘hood? I have school age kids so I don’t need a pediatric dentist, but someone who can see all of us. Yelp reviews are confusing. Thanks!

Did Squadron get arrested? Money buys politicians and politicians give to those that give. Poor people don’t give, and they get shafted for the sake of the rich. Name one politician that came back from Albany poor. Cuomo has real estate connections – that is why LICH is in trouble. The developers want the land. Pure and simple. $$$

    Very interesting; thanks!

What privately run!? LICH is, unfortunately, owned by the state of NY via SUNY.

Key Food on Montague is the best super market in the neighborhood. I know there are the haters that yearn for the behemoth suburban markets of their roots (Sorry Toto, you’re not in Kansas anymore) and I know there are better markets around such as Fairway. But for in the nabe Key Food rules.

  • GoodManJoe

Key Food is the worst. Ask the miserable checkout people. Oh wait, they don’t speak to the customers. They only growl.

  • Anonymouse

THey are always very nice to me and my kids. I’ve never had a problem. In fact, they are super friendly and remember us.

  • http://selfabsorbedboomer.blogspot.com/ Claude Scales

Agree with Anonymouse. Make eye contact, smile, and say “Hello.” Nine times out of ten you’ll get a smile and a friendly response.

  • Rocky Raccoon

Watch out for those temporary offers. Shazam those rates go up. And will TWC customers get a rebate for the lost CBS and other channels? Hold your breath, and turn blue.

    DEAD ANTS? DEAD ANTS?!

Now I have the Pink Panther theme moseying through my head…

Ha ha, the would be thief is a total idiot. What kind of take was he expecting from a video store first thing in the morning, or any time of day for that matter.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlsiLOnWCoI Arch Stanton

It must have something to do with your attitude because they are always nice to me.

  • DIBS

Dr Steve Wong on Court just south of Atlantic. He even does his own cleanings

  • DIBS

Ummm, they all do the same thing wrt to raising prices. I have Comcast in PA and MA…same story

  • DIBS

I normally use 93. Couldn’t find a turnoff for AutoHD in “Settings”

Take a look at SUNY’s Carl McCall in this article in the Red Hook Star-Revue:

No, I didn’t vote for Bloomberg. I voted for Bill Thompson, but it has been said that Bill T took money from Bloomberg’s people and got a city job for his wife – by running a poor campaign for Mayor.

  • ltap917

Well, if you must compare Gristede’s to Key Food, KF wins hands down but that doesn’t mean it’s a great supermarket. If you know that you have to smell the chicken as soon as you get it home, there’s a problem!
More than once I’ve peeled off the price sticker on a chicken and underneath was another sticker with an expired date. Disgusting.
