A Brooklyn Heights Sunset, Serially

Is it just me, or have we had an unusual run of especially spectacular sunsets lately? Yesterday evening, during the course of dinner with friends on the roof deck at 57 Montague Street, I recorded one from its inception to completion. The photo above was taken at 6:25 p.m.

Gorgeous sunset and pictures, but Claude you apparently haven’t been too observant. We fortunate people who live in Brooklyn Heights see some of the most spectacular sunsets throughout the seasons. I’ve always bragged to my family who lives outside NYS that we in the northeast have the most beautiful sunsets ever. Happy sunsets!

Lydia, my association with BHB dates back seven years, to when Homer spotted this post on my blog: http://selfabsorbedboomer.blogspot.com/2006/08/brooklyn-heights-sunset.html

I’ve been enjoying the sunsets since I moved here in 1983, but I still think we’ve had an especially nice run of them lately.

As Claude’s neighbor and fellow deck-goer, I can attest that Saturday night’s sunset was spectacular!

I think the sunsets in New York are affected by the pollution in New Jersey. At least we get some visual benefit from it.

Great photos, Claude. You are a visual artist, and a gifted writer. Especially, you are a wonderful community activist.

Thanks, Sly. Some years ago there was a cartoon–I’m pretty sure it was in the New Yorker–of some people admiring a sunset from Manhattan, and there was writing in the sky: “This sunset brought to you by Exxon.”

Yes Claude, you are right. They have been particularly spectacular lately. Thanks for the pictures. If I printed them all out and stapled them together, I could have one of those old “flip books” so that I could see the sunset in real time!
