It’s time to trim the fruit trees in the Poplar Street Community Garden, located at the northwest corner of Hicks and Poplar streets in north Brooklyn Heights (Poplar is one block north of Middagh Street). You’re invited to join in the work and fun this Saturday, August 10, or the following Saturday, August 17, starting at 1:00 p.m.
Climbing the orchard ladder is only part of what’s involved. There’s plenty to do from the ground too, using our various pruning tools. We’ll work on our apricot and nectarine trees as well. Fruits? Help yourself to the ripe ones! Member Gardeners Tom Gallo and Sven Grell will be in the lead.
If you’d like to participate, please e-mail poplargarden@gmail.com to let the gardeners know when you’ll be available. Or, you may just show up and watch.
