On Saturday evening, August 10, soccer fans can watch the New York Red Bulls play a road game against the Columbus Crew on a giant screen at the Harbor View Lawn, Pier 1, Brooklyn Bridge Park. The game starts at 7:30, but plan to arrive by 7:00 to get a good spot. The event is free; food and beverages will be available for purchase (cash only). There’s more information here.
Also on Saturday, starting at 1:00 p.m. on the steps of Borough Hall facing the park, the Brooklyn Historical Society and Big Onion will present a walking tour of Brooklyn Heights, followed by a tour of BHS’s historic building. The fee is $20 for adults; $15 for students, seniors, and BHS members. More details here.
Bargemusic has three “Masterworks” concerts scheduled. On Friday evening at 8:00 you can hear music by Schumann and Brahms on cello and piano. On Saturday evening, also at 8:00, and on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 , the St. Petersburg String Quartet will perform works by Mozart, Britten, and Tchaikovsky. On Saturday afternoon at 3:00 there will be a free, family oriented “Music in Motion” concert, program and musicians TBA. The doors open at 2:30; it’s first come, first seated.
